The Google I/O 2026 keynote can be summarize in a few words, “A.I. everywhere” that is it. This keynote is literally just about putting Google’s Gemini A.I. everywhere because investors said so, this is exactly how big tech works, gotta appeal the shareholders and put A.I. everywhere because if you do not have enough of it, you are not getting any of that money. I think in some Google suite apps maybe the A.I. could be useful or good practice to have but in a lot of services it makes absolutely no sense to have an A.I. assitant, in the recent Android showcase recently too there were examples of the Gemini A.I. literally controlling your phone, I really see no benefit of this. This all comes back to making people dumber and making the A.I. control how people think, people will not be searching on Google search for links, there will just be searching for different A.I. responses and it is sad. It is not like the old internet where searching for something brought you to someone’s website or some person who has personal interests and hobbies that they enjoy like making music or showing what they made on the internet. It is nothing but a bunch of information curated by A.I. from different sources that are probably also A.I. sources that it is getting it from and recycling it and calling it information, that is not information, this is just pseudo-information. This is the whole problem of the internet now, there is so much information that there is too much of it, too many things that are fake not real and many people do not bother verifying it, A.I. will only accelerate this flow of disinformation.
